Monkey Island may refer to:

Places

  • Monkey Island, Hainan, a nature reserve and tourist destination in China.
  • Monkey Island, North Carolina, a remote, natural island located in Currituck Sound, North Carolina. The island was once the site of the Monkey Island Hunting Club, which remains standing today. Approximately half of the island is forested and has long supported a large colony of wading birds. The island is often visited by deer that swim from at least a mile away.[1]
  • Monkey Island, an island in the Grand Lake o' the Cherokees in northeast Oklahoma. Primarily a resort area, there are no wild monkeys living there.
  • Monkey Island, an island located in the woodland area of Coltness, Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland
  • Monkey Island, Yokosuka, Kanagawa. A historic island fort. Monkey Island is the English translation of Sarushima (猿島), most commonly used by American sailors stationed at Yokosuka Naval base.
  • Monkey Island, Bray, an island in the River Thames.
  • Monkey Island, Scarborough, an islet - since removed - at Scalby Mills, near Scarborough
  • Monkey Island, Cayo Santiago, Puerto Rico; also a name sometimes used for Mona Island, Puerto Rico.
  • Monkey Island, an island in Peru
  • Monkey Island, a remote, uninhabited island on the coast of South Carolina. The island is populated by approximately 3,500 Rhesus Monkeys. The monkeys were put on the island in 1979, and every year, 500 are taken to be used as test animals in labs. The monkeys are protected animals, and the existence of the island is considered an urban legend by many people who have lived in the area for all their lives and have never seen any of the monkeys.[2] While news reports have refused to disclose the exact location of the island, a little research shows that Morgan Island, SC is the most likely location.[3]
  • Monkey Island, Jamaica
  • Monkey Island, New Zealand
  • Monkey Island, Florida

Zoo enclosures

  • Monkey Island, a division of the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Cleveland Ohio, where monkeys were kept outside with no cages or walls, on an island created by Daniella.
  • Monkey Island, an area that used to be in the San Francisco Zoo, where monkeys were kept outside with no cages or walls on an island. Its demolition was started by Live 105 radio stuntman Chuck Farnham. In true San Francisco style, he was naked with a sledge hammer.
