Carradale House, with Balfron Tower behind it

Carradale House is a housing block on the Brownfield Estate in Poplar, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Designed by modernist architect Ernő Goldfinger in 1967-1970, together with its neighbour Balfron Tower, it has been a Grade II listed building since 1996 and is an example of Brutalist architecture. Since 2007 it has been managed by a local housing association, Poplar HARCA.

Poplar HARCA is now committed to carrying out a refurbishment of the building. The architectural firm PRP which has taken up this project will be looking to restore this Brutalist structure to its original form as required by English Heritage, and also to bring the building up to modern specifications and 21st century living standards.[1]

The block is 37m (120ft) tall with 11 floors, and contains 88 flats.[2] The building has a similar podium to Balfron Tower, albeit more extensive with a large underground car park underneath. It too has sky bridges on the same principle of access at every third floor. Like Balfron Tower, the robust nature of the detailing to this building has helped it to weather the passage of time.
