I believe a better translation is "Law on Preventing Hereditarily Ill Progeny"
- Maybe, but this is the "official" translation offered by the Reichsdruckerei at the time. --24.147.86.187 13:17, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
I believe these laws were in practice in the US during this time period. Other countries may have had the same laws. I believe one Supreme Court case has the quote " two generations of imbeciles is enough"( close quote if not perfect). Are there any states/countries that still practice sterilization?159.105.80.141 17:12, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- See Compulsory sterilization, the general article. --24.147.86.187 13:17, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Support from famous Americans
The Law for the Prevention of Hereditarily Diseased Offspring had big support from American famous eugenists at its times, such as Dr. Morris Fishbein, Margaret Sanger, etc. See sites such as theese: [Abac] and [Counter]. In fact, on the second site, we can read:"The editorial record of the New England Journal in the early l930s was awful. Editorials lamented the supposed increase in the rate of American feeble-mindedness as dangerous and the economic burden of supporting the mentally feeble as "appalling". In 1934 The Journal's editor, Morris Fishbein, wrote that "Germany is perhaps the most progressive nation in restricting fecundity among the unfit", and argued that the "individual must give way to the greater good"."Agre22 (talk) 16:18, 15 January 2010 (UTC)agre22
