History

Extract from Website "Hello, I'm Matt (or 'Dob' - it doesn't matter which...) and I record under the name 'the Diogenes Club'.I grew up in South Wales and now exist in Brighton, England. I miss the mountains, drizzle and sheep. I've never been in a band or been a DJ so there's not much history to speak of. I started playing my Dad's spanish guitar in my early teens and later got hold of a 4 track and began experimenting. I eventually got an Atari and some other bits of kit and recorded some stuff which became my first EP for Urbantorque. Later, I got myself a proper computer and recorded further EPs and remixes. I was never particularly into 'dance music' per se, prefering songs, but being unable/unwilling to sing or write lyrics, my music was instrumental based. I recently met Paul Giles who lives in Cardiff, writes lyrics and sings. We were introduced by a very dear friend of mine who was sleeping with his sister. After emailing music and vocals back and forth, we started coming up with songs we were both happy with. The latest EP (Do you know how to feel it?) is the result. Over to you, Paul.... Hi, I'm the other half of 'the Diogenes Club'...I also grew up in Wales and live in the nations love-spooning capital. There's a history I could talk about but nothing of any merit to interest yourselves. I plucked and wailed through bands in school and university, self-producing a wave of songs and pieces that satisfied my penchant for beautiful melodies and haziness. My musical story however was one of self discovery rather than popular ambition and therefore my misfortune, as opposed to super stardom, was always inevitable. Aside from that I've spent many years writing and performing in the comfort of friends ; playing music that grabs and lifts me....and then I met Dob. Introduced by my brother-in-law and close friend, Dob and I discussed the possibility of working on some new material. After toying with the idea of sending him some vocals we eventually decided to work on a track that he began previously, and so I sent a melody over. This was the birth of 'Come Back To Us', my first venture into the Diogenes Club, and so here we are.."
