Scotty Lago (born November 12, 1987) In Seabrook New Hampshire, is an American snowboarder. He is best known for being the last world quarterpipe champion and winning a bronze medal in the 2010 Olympics.
Career
Lago has been riding since 1996.[1] He picked up snowboarding at a local tubing hill in Amesbury, Massachusetts.[2] He was honored at the 2007 "30 Under 30 Awards", which recognizes 30 outstanding young leaders from film, fashion, music, politics, and sports.
Lago is a member of the Frends Crew (spelled without the "i" to emphasize the collective nature of the group) made up of snowboarders Mason Aguirre, Kevin Pearce, Danny Davis, Keir Dillon, Jack Mitrani and Luke Mitrani. Frends is group of riders who turned their initial friendship into a formal alliance in 2007 to move the sport away from its recent competitive and business focus and return the sport to its grass roots, collegial beginnings.[3] He lists Travis Rice, Danny Kass, and Kyle Clancy.[4] as his idols.
Lago is a member of the 2010 U.S. Olympic Snowboarding team along with Shaun White and Louie Vito.
Personal life
Lago has raised money for the Floating Hospital for Children in Boston.[5] When Lago is not on the snow he enjoys hunting and fishing.[1].
