pattu pavadai (pattu pavada) is one of the traditional dress in South India for young girls and children. Pattu means silk in southern parts of India. Pavadai (pavada) is a tube- or cone-shaped garment that hangs from the waist to toe (long skirt like garment), which is especially weaved using those silk threads from silk worms. Parents wish to dress their kids in pattu pavadai. Young girls between puberty and marriage will not only wear pattu pavadai, but also davani (Langa oni). Mostly in traditional functions, people wish to wear pattu pavadai and decorate themselves with jewellery.
