Teclis studied magic in the White Tower of Hoeth as a child, and soon his talent and awesome command of sorcery rivalled that of the High Loremaster himself. During the Great War against Chaos, Teclis took his first step on the road to destiny. The Dark Elves, with many Chaos allies had invaded Ulthuan, and seemed set to conquer the Island. Worst yet, the Everqueen, co-consort of all Ulthuan, had gone missing, as had Teclis's brother. Knowing that his brother was still alive by some instinctual link between them, Teclis vowed to find him and the Everqueen and bring them to safety. Before he left, Teclis forged a magical blade, and was given an ancient Elf artefact of unsurpassed power, the War Crown of Saphery, by the High Loremaster.

Meanwhile, Tyrion and Alarielle, the Everqueen were on the run from Malekith's hunters in the forests of Avelorn: Malekith wanted Alarielle alive or dead, so he could crucify her to his battle standard and deal an overwhelming blow to the morale of the High Elves. Four of the most deadly assassins in the Witch King's service swore never to rest until they had found the Everqueen. After months of fruitless searching, the assassins came upon their prey by accident: Tyrion fought bravely and slew them all, but not before one of the assassins dispatched a messenger familiar to alert the Witch King of their discovery. Howling in triumphant delight at the discovery, Malekith sent his ally N'Kari, a "Keeper of Secrets", (a greater daemon of Slaanesh), to kill them. Tyrion had been poisoned in a previous battle with the Dark Elves and could not defeat the daemon: the daemon smashed him aside with ease, then moved to kill Alarielle. Fortunately, Teclis arrived at the last moment, destroying the daemon with his magic. Using the lore he had been taught, Teclis restored his brother to full health.

While his brother Tyrion mastered the ways of battle and court intrigue, Teclis studied magic at the White Tower of Hoeth. His rapid mastery soon caught the attention of the High Loremaster, who took Teclis as his own student. Teclis quickly mastered the intricacies of High Magic.
Together, the twins and the Everqueen journeyed to Finuval Plain, where the last remnants of the High Elf army were preparing to make a last stand against an overwhelming force of Dark Elves and Chaos worshippers, led by Malekith himself. In the final battle at Finuval Plain, Tyrion killed Urian Poisonblade, the Witch King's personal champion, then led the army in a desperate fight to hold off the attacking enemy. Meanwhile, Teclis faced Malekith himself in a magical duel: for the first time in the war, Teclis fought an enemy who was his equal, and Malekith battled him to a stalemate. In desperation Teclis invoked the power of the Moon Staff of Lileath, a gift from the Everqueen, to sculpt a bolt of magical energy and fire it at Malekith. The magical blast seared the Witch King's very soul, reawakening the terrible power of Asuryan that had burned him 5000 years before. Before the blast could kill him, Malekith was forced to cast himself into the Chaos Realm to avoid final death: without his leadership, the Dark Elves fell into disarray and were routed from the field.

When the Dark Elves invaded Ulthan during the Second Great Chaos Incursion, they quickly attempted to capture the Everqueen Alarielle, who barely escaped with the aid of Tyrion. When Teclis learned his brother was missing and presumed dead, he insisted that he would know if his twin had passed on and determined to find him. He put all his power into forging a sword which would help counteract his weak frame and prepared to search for his brother. The High Loreaster granted him the use of the War Crown of Saphery to aid him in his quest. Teclis followed his link with his brother through Ulthuan, destroying the forces of chaos that stood in his way and bringing hope to the beleaguered elf defenders.
After securing the High Elf homeland, Teclis, with his comrades Finreir and Yrtle, came to the Old World to aid the human Empire in their fight against Chaos. In addition to lending their own considerable magical prowess to the battles against Chaos, they also taught basic spells to the hedge-wizards of the Empire. They proved willing to sacrifice much to help humanity: Teclis and Finreir were wounded many times on campaign, while Yrtle was slain in battle and given great honours by the Empire. Seeing what a pivotal role magic played in the war, Emperor Magnus the Pious lifted the ban on magic from his people and asked Teclis to educate them further in arts of spellcasting. After a lengthy debate between Finreir and Teclis on the wisdom of doing so, Teclis founded the Colleges of Magic in the Empire, hoping that giving magic to humans would provide support to this bulwark against Chaos. Teclis taught at the colleges for 20 years, then returned home to Ulthuan for a time. Before he could return to finish his work, he became the new High Loremaster of the Tower of Hoeth.

When the spies of the Witch King, Malekith, found the hiding place of Tyrion and the Everqueen, he sent N'Kari, a Greater Demon of Slaanesh, to finish off the injured Tyrion and return the Everqueen to him. As the demon prepared to claim it's prizes, Teclis emerged from the bushes and banished the demon with a pair of sorcerous thunderbolts. He used his magic to heal his brothers wounds and the group traveled to Finuval Plain for the final confrontation with the forces of the Dark Elves. After giving Tyrion the armor worn by his ancestor Aenarion, the Everqueen gave Teclis the Moon Staff of Lileath, the last remaining artifact given to the High Elves by the Moon Goddess. Teclis refused any sword other than the one he forged himself.

After Tyrion began the battle by slaying Malekith's champion in one-on-one combat, Teclis engaged in a magical duel with the Witch King. Using his magic to stride into the air and survey the battlefield, Teclis realized that the High Elves would lose the battle if something decisive didn't happen soon. Calling upon the full power of the Moon Staff of Lileath, he launched a final, massive magical attack against Malekith. Despite having millennia to perfect his magical skills, Malekith was unable to turn back such a massive magical onslaught. He was forced to cast himself into the Realm of Chaos to escape ultimate destruction. With Teclis free to turn his spells on the Dark Elf forces and Tyrion slaying the Druchii Standard Bearer, the tide immediatly turned in the High Elves' favor. The rout was the beginning of the push to banish the Dark Elves from Ulthuan once again.

As the High Elf forces liberated Lothern, the capital of Ulthuan, an emissary from the human Empire arrived to request the help of the High Elves in fighting off the forces of Chaos. Unable to send warriors to relieve the ebattled humans, Teclis volunteered to bring the humans a weapon of war they had not had access to in the Empire's 2000 year history: Magic. Along with two other mages, they traveled to the Old World, where they began teaching the human hedge wizards the basics of Battle Magic. Following the conclusion of the war, the emperor Magnus the Pious requested the elves teach humans the full secrets of magic. Realizing that it would help mankind protect itself agains the forces of Chaos, Teclis established the Colleges of Magic to teach the humans all they could learn about the secrets of magic. Upon his return to Ulthuan, Teclis learned that the High Loremaster had died while he was in the Old World. The council of Saphery offered him the position, which Teclis was honored to accept.

Teclis is a fictional character, a High Elf mage from Warhammer Fantasy fictional universe and games. He is arguably the most potent and powerful living user of magic in the entire Warhammer Fantasy world - his power is on a par with Nagash at his height.

Teclis is the twin brother to the High Elf warrior, Tyrion, and the direct descendant of Aenarion the Defender through his marriage to the Everqueen Astarielle. The brothers are as different as night and day. While Tyrion is fair and strong, Teclis is gaunt and frail, dependent on potions to lend him strength. What he lacks in physical power, Teclis makes up in his nearly unparalleled mastery of magic. [1]

Character Biography[2]

While his brother Tyrion mastered the ways of battle and court intrigue, Teclis studied magic at the White Tower of Hoeth. His rapid mastery soon caught the attention of the High Loremaster, who took Teclis as his own student. Teclis quickly mastered the intricacies of High Magic.

After giving Tyrion the armor worn by his ancestor Aenarion, the Everqueen gave Teclis the Moon Staff of Lileath, the last remaining artifact given to the High Elves by the Moon Goddess.[1] Teclis refused any sword other than the one he forged himself.

Later Events

Teclis played a role centuries later in the Storm of Chaos, by supplying Swordmasters of Hoeth and a readily available Sea Guard to Emperor Karl Franz. Furthermore, Teclis destroyed the entire daemonic army of Be'lakor single-handedly.

In the book Giantslayer by William King, Teclis saves Gotrek and Felix when they are trapped in the Paths of the Old Ones. This act saved all of Ulthuan from sinking and the rest of the world from falling to Chaos. [3] He has also appeared in the book Tainted Blood by Nathan Long, where he dealt with a Chaos outbreak caused by a lapse in a local lodestone, as well as having a minor roll in the novel Defenders of Ulthuan.[4]
