Fábio do Passo Faria (born 24 April 1989 in Vila do Conde) is a Portuguese footballer currently playing for Benfica in the Portuguese first division, as a central defender.

Football career

Faria finished his football formation at hometown's Rio Ave FC, having arrived aged 15 from F.C. Porto. In 2007, with the Vila do Conde side in the second division, he was promoted to the first team, appearing two times as it returned to the top level.

After almost no official appearances in 2008–09, Faria became an undisputed starter in the following campaign, as he was also first summoned to the Portuguese under-21s. In December of 2009, his solid performances earned him a transfer to Portuguese league powerhouse S.L. Benfica on a four-year contract, with a tranfer fee of around 2 million, effective for the 2010–11 season.[1]
