Split Images is a crime novel written by Elmore Leonard. In this novel Pagan Babies are mentioned on a sign in Detroit. Later Pagan Babies is the title of another novel by Elmore Leonard but these are not linked.

Plot summary

The original novel begins in Detroit and tells the story of Robbie Daniels. A multimillionaire who guns down a Haitian refugee who breaks into his Palm Beach mansion and he calls it practice. 21-year police veteran Walter Kouza sees his one chance to quit being a cop and go to work for a big shot. Daniels next victim is a parking attendant who is a witness in a shooting.

Who will figure rich businessman Robbie Daniels for a hitman? Who will stop him? Unless it's Detroit homicide Lieutenant Bryan Hurd, who plays the murder game by his own rules with the help of his good-looking lover and journalist Angela Nolan. While Walter and Robbie travel to Florida to kill their next victim, Chichi a diplomat and drug dealer, they are being followed by Bryan and Angela. Can they we stopped before they 'practice' again.....
