  • Comment: I don't think that it's necessary to list all of the novels in the series that this is part of in this article. --Slon02 (talk) 19:33, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Deep Water is a novel by Peter Corris written in 2009. At that time it was the latest, in his well known series, Cliff Hardy. In April 2009, The Independent Weekly called Deep Water "a web of intrigue"[1] Deep Water is the 34th novel in the series whose protagonist has been called "Sydney’s best-known private investigator"[2] In 2009, Corris won the Ned Kelly Award for Deep Water, in the Fiction category.[3]

Deep Water is the novel Corris wasn't anticipated to write. The Previous novel, Open File concluded with prose most endearing fans had accepted as the last. Corris concurred that Open File was last in the series and its release would culminate the 28 years of writing he had done with the series. Deep Water begins with Hardy in recovery after having open-heart surgery. This is reflective of the series, which was itself, recovering from a premature retirement.[4]
