The IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization is a Federation of Programs that accelerates and extends standards and/or technology development and adoption activities for technology industry consortia. The IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization (ISTO) was established in January 1999 as a global, not-for-profit corporation [501(c)(6)]. The IEEE is the founding member of the ISTO. The ISTO maintains an affiliation with the IEEE and the IEEE Standards Association through formal agreements.

Member Programs of the ISTO

ISTO offers Program Management, Marketing, Conformity Assessment, Accounting, and IT support to technical groups and consortia. ISTO currently supports the following Organizations:

ICAP Initiative

The IEEE Conformity Assessment Program (ICAP) is a program managed by ISTO. ICAP provides support that benefit industry standards making bodies, as well as conformity assessment professionals responsible for evaluating new products against IEEE standards. ICAP activities are designed to enhance the implementation and end user value for existing and developing IEEE standards. In March 2010, ICAP announced its first certification program[1] based on IEEE 1588.

Headquarters

The ISTO is headquartered in Piscataway, New Jersey, USA and maintains offices within the IEEE Center for Standards adjacent to the IEEE Operations Center.
