Nilesat 201 Satellite, is a future Egyptian communications satellite.

Nilesat-201 will enable the Egyptian satellite operator Nilesat to deliver digital Direct to Home (DTH) TV and radio broadcasting and high-speed data transmission services to North Africa and the Middle East starting in September 2010. [1]

Satellite characteristics

It will be based in Spacebus 4000B3 satellite platform. Primer contractor is Thales Alenia Space. Position will be 7ºW in geosynchronous orbit. Nominal lifetime in 15 years, launch mass of 3.2 tonnes nad 5.7Kw of electricity power to payload at end of nominal lifetime. It will carry 40 transponders, of which 24 will be of BSS-type in Ku band and 4 in Ka band.[1]
