"What If"

"What If" is the fourth single released by Jason Derülo on his self-titled debut album, . The single was released on July 26, 2010, in the UK.

Music video

The music video premiered on The Official UK Top 40 on July 12, 2010, and was directed by Ethan Lader. The video features Derulo and his love interest. They are moving house and she goes to get a box but she is almost run over by a car. Then it features Derulo running in slow motion to save her. After that it features things being rewinded and Derulo is being seen singing on a street with people walking backwards. In the third verse he is seen in front of a New York skyline and getting out of a car, not knowing the girl yet. Everything is being rewinded through the video, such as him in bed with her and him surprising her with a candlelit dinner. [1]

Chart performance

"What If" first debuted on the UK Singles Chart at number 40 on July 17, 2010, following the release of the accompanying music video. The single also charted at number 18 on the UK R&B Chart that same week. The following week, the single rose 21 places to number 19, marking Derülo's fourth Top 20 single in the UK. Then the following week it rose again to number 12, marking Derülo's fourth Top 15 single in the UK. On the same week it rose to number 5 on the UK R&B Chart, marking his fourth top 5 on the R&B Chart hit in the UK. "What If" also debuted on the Irish Singles Chart at number 41 on July 22, 2010.
