Dr. Dale Archer, Jr. is a medical doctor and television personality who specializes in chemical imbalances of the brain, personal responsibility and relationships. Archer has appeared on CNN Headline News[1] and Fox News.[2] He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association[3].

Education and early medical career

Archer was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Archer attended Tulane University where he was a Phi Beta Kappa, receiving a BA in Philosophy. He also received his M.D. from Tulane, subsequently attending The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio to complete his residency in Psychiatry. In 1987, Archer founded The Institute for Neuropsychiatry in Lake Charles, Louisiana, a clinic which now staffs 8 full and part time Psychiatrists as well as a full complement of Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists and Therapists all treating a wide variety of mental health issues.[4] He is also the Medical Director for Psychiatric services at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and the Corporate Medical Director for Behavioral Health Group, a Dallas based company that owns/operates 20 Opiate Addiction Treatment Centers across the United States. In addition he is a psychiatric consultant for the Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) program in Southwest Louisiana which trains law enforcement officers in how to recognize and deal with the mentally ill and serves on the Louisiana Medical Advisory Board.

Career in media

Archer has had three radio shows, including the call-in show “Taking Charge with Dr. Dale Archer,” and has been a television host and guest expert for twenty years on FOX and NBC affiliates in Louisiana. He has appeared nationally on "Fox and Friends", "CNN Newsroom", "The Glenn Beck Show", HLN's "Prime News", "Hannity", "In Session" and CNN.com Live. He is a frequent guest on the Fox News show The Strategy Room, and is a regular guest on Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell which airs on CNN's Headline News. Dr. Archer has authored several articles, as well as the book Chemical Imbalance Depression. He currently writes “Taking Charge”, an advice column in the Louisiana magazine Lagniappe. His syndicated weekly TV talk show "The Dr Dale Archer Show" launched August 12th, 2009 on select FOX and CW stations in South Louisiana and Texas.

In January 2009, Dr. Archer launched www.DrDaleArcher.com a free internet-based advice and blog community.
