This is my personal page, but right now it is being used as a sandbox for the SISO DIS community.
simulation entity: An object that is created and controlled by a simulation application (See: object). The primary state of an entity is conveyed in an Entity State PDU. An object may be entity only if it is independent (i.e. not part of another object) and it meets at least one of the following criteria:
- The object has no other PDU to convey its primary state
- The object can be targeted, damaged, or destroyed
- The object has size and shape that obstructs a sensor or the visibility of other objects
Examples of simulation entities are platforms (e.g. tanks, submarines, aircraft), munitions, life forms, expendables, cultural features, and independent supplies, radios, sensors, and emitters. Objects such as munitions, radios, and emitters that are attached to platforms or life forms are not entities, although they may become entities if they detach from the platform.
