In the history of Video Games, the eighth generation will start on February 26, 2011 with the release of the Nintendo 3DS. The Nintendo 3DS will Succeed the Nintendo DS Series as Nintendo's Next Generation Handheld Console.[1] The Nintendo 3DS features a stereoscopic screen, which is able to display 3D, without special glasses. It also features a touch screen, a control pad, and a HOME button, which allows you to multitask through system features while playing a game.[2] Sony is said to be preparing a PSP 2 to compete with the Nintendo 3DS. No official announcement has been made by Sony, but game developers like Netherealms Studios have claimed to have received PSP 2 Development Kits and have seen the actual hardware.[3][4]
In consoles, Yoshio Sakamoto, co-creator of Metroid, teased the Wii 2, stating that "It will leave your mouth open".[5][6] No other information is yet known. Shuhei Yoshida of Sony went on and suggested that the PlayStation 4's Operating System and Platform Tools will be developed by game developers.[7]
