Almost every piece I compose is inspired somehow by a poem, a theatrical idea or even just a word or phrase. I also tend to "renew" modal and tonal systems by imbuing them with my own personal voice (which ranges from emotional to quirky!). Tonal music originally developed from vocal models, and my style tends to be governed by the lyricism and melodic phrasing associated with vocal writing, no matter my medium. But I certainly don't restrict myself. I love to explore! |

A Brief Introduction
There are many things that I, Erica Glenn, am not: A gourmet chef, for example, a brilliant scientist, or the figure skater of my childhood dreams. However, among the things that I am (which include such titles as student, traveler, playwright, and valued consumer of Reese's peanut butter cups), I am a contemporary classical composer.
