Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Watertown, MA, SoftArtisans is a developer of BlackBerry and SharePoint integration, Microsoft Office format reporting, and secure enterprise file transfer software.[1]. The company has three products: SilverDust, which provides BlackBerry smartphone users with secure access to SharePoint content, OfficeWriter, a Microsoft Office reporting solution, and FileUp, an HTTP file upload service. In 2007, Microsoft acquired all the intellectual property of OfficeWriter[2].SoftArtisans is a BlackBerry Elite Alliance Member and Microsoft partner, and was one of North America's 500 fastest-growing technology companies in 2002 and 2005[3][4].

Products

SilverDust: SilverDust is a BlackBerry application for accessing SharePoint content. SilverDust allows users to participate in SharePoint workflows, review, edit, check in, and check out documents, manage company task lists, and access shared calendars. SilverDust users can securely access business data from anywhere that a mobile connection is available. Because SilverDust is a native BlackBerry application and does not use a web browser, its users have access to SharePoint content in both online and offline modes.[5]

OfficeWriter: OfficeWriter is a reporting service solution for generating, manipulating, and reading native Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. OfficeWriter is designed for high-scale server use and does not require Microsoft Office on the server. The service allows for rich, data-driven Office reporting that uses the full set of Excel and Word features, and can be integrated with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting.[6]

FileUp: FileUp is an HTTP file transfer service that allows web developers to upload and download multi-gigabyte files and applications. FileUp transmits files of any format from a local hard disk to a server running Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) or to a separate file server that is networked to the Web server.[7]

Partnerships

SoftArtisans is a RIM BlackBerry Elite Alliance member and Microsoft partner.

Clients and Awards

SoftArtisans has over 20,000 clients, most of whom are in the financial services, telecommunications, high-tech, manufacturing, government and healthcare sectors. SoftArtisans' clients include Verizon Wireless, DELL, JP Morgan, Bank of America, NASA, AOL, VISA, Nike, and Sony.

The company ranked 360th on Deloitte & Touche's Technology Fast 500 list and won Microsoft's "Best of TechEd BI" in both 2007 and 2008.[8] [9] [10]
