I have decided to quit Wikipedia after making almost 7,500 contributions to this online encylopedia over a time span exceeding three years. I have come to realisation that editing articles on Wikipedia is quite unrewarding, especially since I am rarely acknowledged for my contributions. In fact, my edits have been frequently and arbitrarily undone by other Wikipedians, often without any explanation whatsoever. Apart from that, I am also leaving Wikipedia because I know that I will be too busy to make any significant edits to Wikipedia from February 2011 onwards.

I would like to thank everyone who has taken the trouble to assist and guide me throughout my time on this awesome website. I have truly enjoyed contributing to Wikipedia, even though I typically feel unappreciated.

Greetings. I'm '''Acs4b'''<ref> The username Acs4b is an original one, which I did not copy from anywhere. In other words, it is not a parody or spoof of anything. I am somewhat [[wiktionary:effervescent|effervescent]] (although I am a self-proclaimed "[[wiktionary:pessimistic|pessimistic]] [[Existentialism|existentialist]]"). Being a voracious learner, I have frequently relied on Wikipedia to expand my horizons. My favourite subjects in school are [[geography]] and [[English language|English]]. Besides that, I despise most [[Extracurricular activity|extracurricular activities]] and I am philosophically inclined towards [[Fallibilism]]. I was also the [[You (Time Person of the Year)|Time Person of the Year for 2006]]!


I highly doubt that I will be making any major edits to this website upon retirement. However, I might still contribute sporadically by fixing typos, rectifying factual errors, and so on — making minor edits, basically. I will also continue to read Wikipedia's articles to improve my understanding of various topics.
I officially became a member of Wikipedia on [[April 21]], [[2006]] (time has really passed since then). I enjoy creating new [[Wikipedia:What is an article?|articles]] and editing existing pages on Wikipedia. I understand that Wikipedia has an appallingly limited coverage of Malaysia-related topics; as such, I regularly edit articles of that nature. I am perfectly aware of the fact that vandalism is evident on Wikipedia, ergo I do not perceive it as an authoritative source of information. Before I can fully accept a fragment of information as true, I have to verify it with a trusted source first.


If I have ever violated Wikipedia's code of conduct on [[Wikipedia:Civility|civility]], I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to the Wikipedian community. The past three years have undoubtedly been eventful, if not tumultuous — I am currently fighting a winning battle against a type of blood cancer known as [[Peripheral T-cell lymphoma]] ([[non-Hodgkin lymphoma]], [[Peripheral T-cell lymphoma-Not-Otherwise-Specified|"not otherwise specified"]]). Thank you Wikipedia for expanding my horizons tremendously and goodbye, everyone!
In June 2010, I was diagnosed with [[Peripheral T-cell lymphoma]] ([[non-Hodgkin lymphoma]], [[Peripheral T-cell lymphoma-Not-Otherwise-Specified|"not otherwise specified"]]). From late May until mid July, this illness affected my ability to contribute to Wikipedia. I have undergone several sessions of [[chemotherapy]] since the diagnosis was made, and this form of treatment has helped to kill off the malignant cancerous cells in my [[lymph node]]s. Since I am now required to remain within the solitary confinement of my home, I have been able to edit Wikipedia more actively (and efficiently) than I ever have before. As of mid September 2010, the overall prognosis is excellent based on the results of a [[Positron emission tomography|PET scan]] that I underwent earlier that month.

==Etymology==
The username Acs4b is a combination (or ''[[portmanteau]]'') of Acs and 4b. ACS is an abbreviation of [[Anglo Chinese School, Klang|Anglo Chinese School]], which is a primary and secondary school in Klang (this is just one of the many ACS schools in Malaysia and Singapore), and it is my current alma mater. The word 4b, which is another abbreviation, stands for 4 ''Bestari'', a class that I used to study in while I was in ACS primary (I was in this class in 2004).

This user is no longer active on Wikipedia as of December 2010.

I have decided to quit Wikipedia after making almost 7,500 contributions to this online encylopedia over a time span exceeding three years. I have come to realisation that editing articles on Wikipedia is quite unrewarding, especially since I am rarely acknowledged for my contributions. In fact, my edits have been frequently and arbitrarily undone by other Wikipedians, often without any explanation whatsoever. Apart from that, I am also leaving Wikipedia because I know that I will be too busy to make any significant edits to Wikipedia from February 2011 onwards.

I would like to thank everyone who has taken the trouble to assist and guide me throughout my time on this awesome website. I have truly enjoyed contributing to Wikipedia, even though I typically feel unappreciated.

I highly doubt that I will be making any major edits to this website upon retirement. However, I might still contribute sporadically by fixing typos, rectifying factual errors, and so on — making minor edits, basically. I will also continue to read Wikipedia's articles to improve my understanding of various topics.

If I have ever violated Wikipedia's code of conduct on civility, I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to the Wikipedian community. The past three years have undoubtedly been eventful, if not tumultuous — I am currently fighting a winning battle against a type of blood cancer known as Peripheral T-cell lymphoma (non-Hodgkin lymphoma, "not otherwise specified"). Thank you Wikipedia for expanding my horizons tremendously and goodbye, everyone!
