Saint. Hilda's Secondary School (Abbreviation: SHSS) is a government-aided secondary school in Tampines, Singapore, which offers a four to five year course leading to a GCE 'O' Level or a GCE 'N' Level certificate and to a Centralised Institute, Junior College, Polytechnic or the Institute of Technical Education.
School awards
The school has been awarded the School Distinction Award (SDA), the second highest award for school excellence under MOE's Masterplan of Awards. This is over and above the Best Practice Award (Staff Well-being) for the way it develops and manages its staff. The school has been awarded the Singapore Quality Class (SQC), a quality assurance standard awarded by SPRING Singapore.
Classrooms
In the beginning of 2009, all classrooms in the technical block will be refurbished. Classrooms in the new block which houses the lower secondary pupils, will have five window unit air-conditioners installed. This move is to help students to learn better due to the ongoing PRIME project constructing the 7-storey Student Activity Complex.
PRIME Project
The school will be going through the PRIME Project in August/September 2008. New/upgraded facilities when the PRIME Project is completed in 2010 will be :
Seven-storey Student Activity Complex featuring an air-conditioned 1500-seater multi-purpose hall, an indoor sports hall with a 100-seater gallery, the indoor sports hall for the primary school, covered bus-bay for the primary school, covered parade square and play courts and a full-sized roof-top hockey pitch cum soccer field which cannot be used for soccer. A larger library with study area in the mezzanine floor, co-located with the staff room (in the existing hall), larger counselling room with teacher-parent meeting rooms and a new entrance to the school.
