The Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) is the largest institute of adult learning, operating chapters in approximately 300 cities internationally.[1]
The institute offers multiple courses each season made available through local chapters and taught by a local instructor. Course topics provide a Jewish aspect to practical issues. Past topics included Medical Issues, Judicial topics, Israel, the Holocaust, as well as Bible Studies, Talmud and Kabbalah.
The Jewish Learning Institute is a branch of Chabad Lubavitch and a division of Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch.
History
The first JLI course, Jewish Mysticism, was piloted in 15 Chabad centers in 1999. The institute expanded introducing 15-20 new cities annually, growing slowly until 2005 when it grew by 40 new cities. The institute currently boasts over 300 centers worldwide.[2]
Endorsements
Past JLI Courses have been endorsed by many prominent Jewish and World Leaders including Simon Wiesenthal[3], Alan Dershowitz[4], Jonathan Sarna[5], Judea Pearl and Elyakim Rubinstein[6]
