We are Church (also known as Wir Sind Kirche) is a dissident libersl movement within the Roman Catholic Church. It emphasizes what it calls the spirit of the Second Vatican Council over the Council's letter, and insists on the rupture between the pre-Conciliar and post-Conciliar period.
The organization wants to change the Roman Catholic Church's policies in these ways:[1] [2] [3]
- Less hierarchy
- More participation of women in the Church, in particular female priests
- Ending the requirement of celibacy in the priesthood
- Positive attitude towards sexuality, including homosexuality
- Promote a message of joy, rather than threat or discrimination.
