Because there is varations in the accent and intonation of Kutuk among Karo, the language is sometimes referred to with the tribal origin of the speaker within Karo to specify the accents of the speaker such as Kutuk na Bari, Kutuk na Pojulu, Kutuk na Kuku, Kutuk na Mundari, Kutuk na Kakwa and Kutuk na Nyangwara.
