Jonathan Raymond is a writer living in Portland, Oregon. He published his first novel, The Half-Life in May of 2004. He has also worked as a screenwriter and wrote the short story on which the film Old Joy is based. Old Joy was shown at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and 2006 Rotterdam International Film Festival and stars musician Will Oldham.

Raymond's professional duties include co-editing Tin House Magazine, editing Plazm Magazine, and teaching through The New School.
