In the bottom section, where it talks about all the Palm devices, I don't see any mention of the T5. I believe it was very similar to the T|X but without the wi-fi capability. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.141.5.253 (talk) 22:27, 18 January 2010 (UTC) |

Cingular firmware update
The link mentioned as the July 25 release of the Cingular firmware update (1.15) now points to the November 21 release of the Cingular 1.17 firmware update. I'm of the opinion that we should leave the original firmware mention, remove the link, and post the updated 1.17 link along with the release data. Any objections? ---Zadzagy
Pros and Cons of the Treo 650
It may be useful to have a pros and cons section on this page, what do you think?
Having upgraded from a Treo 600 (OrangeUK) to a T650 (Unlocked GSM), I have noticed a few usability issues in the T650 software build that I'm not keen on. I was lucky, I was given a T650 by my boss, but if I had to pay for my own, I may not have upgraded - the T600 is excellent.
Pros
- Bluetooth - T600 has no bluetooth
- Camera - much better quality & very good in bad lighting, compared to T600
- Video recording - even to SD card works OK - you can record a lot of vid on a 512 SD card. T600 required 3rd party software to record video.
- Calendar - A location can be specified on diary entries.
- Hi Res Display - 320 x 320 resolution
- Non-Volatile Memory - Removing the battery causes no memory loss (as long as the device is switched off first, otherwise possible loss of the last thing you edited), on replacing, the device just boots up as if the reset button were clicked. If a T600 battery ran down completely, you lost the lot.
- MP3 Controls - Side buttons adjust MP3 playback volume from any application, third side button pauses playback. These only work when the keyguard is not active.
- Contacts - You can add a photograph to a contact record.
- Keyguard - Both the T650 and T600 have better keylock, compared to Tungsten T2.
- Silent Mode - Both the T650 and T600 have a ringer on/silence slide switch.
Cons
- On the T600, if an SMS came in, you could snooze it and it would pop up again. You cannot snooze an SMS on the T650, you have to goto it or ignore it.
- The PalmOS Find does not appear to search sms messages (I thought the 600 did, I can check)
- When the e-mail client does a background receive, it can alert the user if new mail has arrived, however, it can only make a sound - you cannot configure it to vibrate.
- Calendar - Floating events are not supported, they were on the T600.
- MP3 Playback - T650, when multitasking, skips more than T600 (rarely skipped). It's not bad, but it is more noticable.

Superceding the Treo 650 GSM
I believe the Treo 750v may be superceding (but not yet) the Treo 650 GSM, not the CDMA version as the 750v is UMTS triband and GSM quadband unit. http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/09/12/palm-treo-750v-gets-official/ --MrMabs 16:09, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Well sort of - the Treo 700v is a windows replacement for that device - we are unlikely to see a 700pv (or something) because Garnet does not handle UMTS very well. --Charlesknight 17:25, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
Specification Discrepency
The color depth is mentioned twice in the article... once as 16 bit... once as 32 bit. I doubt 32 is plausable, but what is the correct color depth?
- It is 16 bit. Achitnis 02:17, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Carriers?
What does the "carriers" section mean?
- Are these the phone companies that sell a treo 650?
- Or those whose SIM-cards can be used on a treo 650?
In the latter case, we would have to add a few thousand GSM cellphone companies around the world. --Austrian 21:16, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Anyway, there are many other carriers around the world that sell the Treo 650. The section is very North America-centered, and does not fit as it is on a (global) encyclopedia. 143.106.18.169 20:58, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
I still don't get it. "carriers" means "vendors"? Or "vendors who happen to be phone providers"? (There are many vendors that are not phone providers.) --Austrian 08:41, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- A "carrier" is the service provider. e.g. AT&T/Cingular, T-Mobile, Sprint in the United States; Rogers, Fido, Telus in Canada; Orange, BT Cellnet in the U.K.; NTT DoCoMo in Japan; etc. To clarify: if you purchased a Treo from Bob's House Of Wireless Phones that operated on the T-Mobile network, the carrier would be T-Mobile. See also: Wireless carrier Kevin 12:34, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
I see, the "other carriers" paragraph clarifies the situtation for me. --Austrian 20:57, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

The pic I posted on 2008-11-03 is an image I've had for several years. I had a friend do the actual picture with his high-end camera. AllanVS talk contribs 17:51, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
It has no GPS
I do not own this phone, but are you sure about the built-in GPS? Someone should verify this! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.2.127.199 (talk) 14:01, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Missing Palm Device?
In the bottom section, where it talks about all the Palm devices, I don't see any mention of the T5. I believe it was very similar to the T|X but without the wi-fi capability. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.141.5.253 (talk) 22:27, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
