Walk the Moon (typeset WALK THE MOON) is an indie-rock band based in Cincinnati, OH. The current members are Ohio natives Nicholas Petricca, Kevin Ray, Sean Waugaman, and Eli Maiman. The group independently released their debut album, "i want! i want!", in November of 2010 receiving significant air play for the track, "Anna Sun," on WFPK and WTMD.

In February of 2011, Walk the Moon joined forces with Mick Management whose artist roster includes John Mayer, Ray Lamontagne, and Brett Dennen, among others. They are scheduled to record at Doppler Studios [1] starting in July 2011 with producer/mixer/songwriter, Ben Allen. Allen's most recent credits include Cee-lo Green, Animal Collective, and MIA.

SPIN Magazine has described their sound as a poppy, art-rock quartet[2]. They were also deemed a Nylon Magazine Band Crush for their, "swirly pop beats, infectious guitar riffs, and loud, sing-a-long choruses."[3]

Live

They have supported acts Panic At the Disco and Weezer on select dates and completed a short tour with the west coast band, Grouplove, in the spring of 2011.

The band is set to play the main stage at the 20th Anniversary of Lollapalooza as well as support Local Natives in an Official Lollapalooza Aftershow at Lincoln Hall.

Anna Sun

"Anna Sun," was named the song of the summer by a 2011 Esquire article, "30 Songs Every Man Should Listen To"[4]. The song is named after Petricca's professor from Kenyon College and is meant to symbolize youth. "It's about college, about maintaining that little bit of being a kid," Petricca said. "Don't be afraid to play."[5]

The, "Anna Sun," official music video was released to coincide with the debut of "i want! i want!" in November of 2010. In eight months, the video has received over 300,000 hits on YouTube.

MTV Hive calls the video a, "hilariously choreographed, neon-colored and awesomely shot in one take,"[6] production. The video was produced by a local Cincinnati company, Contrast Productions, and features original choreography from Kim Popa of PONS Inc., as well as a cast full of the band's friends.

"Anna Sun," is part of the American Eagle Outfitters video rotation in retail stores across the country.
