Camp Bloomfield was founded in 1958, when Henry Bloomfield, a supporter of [[Junior Blind of America|Junior Blind]] (formerly the Foundation for the Junior Blind), purchased the land to fulfill a promise to give children who are [[Blindness|blind]] or visually impaired the camp experience he believed every child deserves. Previously, the organization had struggled to find campgrounds that could accommodate children who were blind.

Junior Blind of America is a non-profit organization founded by Norman Kaplan in 1953. It aims to help the blind and visually impaired by offering unique programs.
Building on [[Junior Blind of America|Junior Blind's]] beliefs in the merits of recreation, the camp has since provided thousands of campers with access to a full range of physical and social activities that promote fitness, teamwork, friendships, self-esteem and independence.

Camp Bloomfield is a 40-acre (160,000 m2) campground in the Santa Monica mountains near Malibu, California, United States. Founded in 1958 by Henry Bloomfield and the Junior Blind of America, the non-profit camp runs several sessions every summer for those who are blind and visually impaired.
