Thanks for the feedback. It is a rather weak and second-hand reference (that is, the web site refering to the dictionary), but I'll see what others say. Also, using the edit summary helps other editors understand what you are doing. Regards,Pinethicket (talk) 16:22, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi 157.193.4.35: I take note this morning that your edit to Paradise Lost did not last the nite; I was afraid of that. I would advise you to seek hard copies of the two dictionaries that the web site refers to and to properly cite them with page number, publisher, date, etc. I looked for online copies but did not find them nor did the local library have copies. I also was unable to find another Internet source. I was able to find verification that the quote is legitimate, but not that it was the origin of the phrase. Good luck. Njdevils6 vandalism incident

You're welcome. Just doin' my job (although, I admit, my first instinct on seeing the long report at AIV was, as always, to refer it to ANI. But I took a closer look and realized I could investigate this quickly and there should be block if it was as reported ... To me at least, I would think only autoconfirmed editors should be able to issue antivandalism tags. Yeah, I was a bit confused about where to report the incident, since it involved "anti-antivandalsim", but I am glad you were able to take care of it. A fair amount of new editors start off doing anti vandal work, actually. I wouldn't deny them the tags, and I don't see how you could, from a technical perspective, unless you denied them access to all templates, and that would cause other problems. That said, however, there have been a few other incidents like this of a vandal trying to turn the tables. Daniel Case (talk) 01:47, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
