A loss of control is when an aircraft starts to flip or rotate without pilot controls and is the cause of many disasters including china northwest flight 2303 United Airlines Flight 585, copa airlines panama flight 201, Alaska airlines flight 261 and Aeroflot flight 4227

effects on aircraft

some examples are:

China Northwest Airlines Flight 2303 took off from Xi'an, china. the aircraft a Russian tupolev 154 was in for maintenance before it's flight and the autopilot yaw-channel had been erroneously connected to the bank control, and the bank-channel to the yaw controls.Additionally, this incorrect maintenance was not done in a properly approved facility. while flying the engaged the autopilot then the plane began to oscillate violently, any attempts by the autopilot to rectify matters only made things worse. The plane shook itself to pieces and broke itself up in midair before the crew could react. the wreckage was discovered, all 160 people died when the plane broke itself up and crashed near Xi'an.

Alaska Airlines Flight 261 took off from Mexico and was on it's way to California. the md-83 was in for maintenance and the t-tail's jackscrew was not checked and caused the lives 88 lives. the plane dived two times the last dive caused the the ailerons to tear off and flipped upside down, the pilots even tried to fly the plane inverted but all attempts were useless. the plane nose dived and crashed into the pacific ocean.
