He was Spokesperson and Head of Department of [[Presidential Apparatus|Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Republic]]. Mirzayev was killed on November 20, 1991 in a helicopter [[1991 Azerbaijani Mil Mi-8 shootdown|shot down by Armenian forces]] near the [[Karakend]] village of [[Khojavend Rayon|Khojavend]] district in [[Nagorno-Karabakh]], Azerbaijan. After the country regained its independence in [[1991]], he rose to the position of Presidential Spokesman and Head of the Information Department of the Presidential Administration of the Azerbaijan Republic.
Osman Mirzayev was born on April 13, 1937 in [[Baku, Azerbaijan]]. He was the graduate of the Phylology Department of [[Azerbaijan State University]]. Osman Mirzayev is considered to be one of founders of independent journalism in Soviet Azerbaijan.

Osman Mirzayev was killed on [[20 November]] [[1991]] in a helicopter shot down by Armenian troops over Azerbaijan's [[Nagorno Karabakh]]. He was part of a 22 person international mission to investigate attacks in the region. There were no survivors of the crash. He left a wife and three daughters, all engaged in journalism.

Author of books Our names, We live once, Eagle flight, Lake and a drop, and many articles, actual for his period. One of founders of journalism in Soviet Azerbaijan. Presented first public-political TV show Dalga in the Azerbaijani Television.[1]

He was Spokesperson and Head of Department of Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Republic. Mirzayev was killed on November 20, 1991 in a helicopter shot down by Armenian forces near the Karakend village of Khojavend district in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan. There were no survivors of the crash.[2][3]
