After 7 years of intensive General Level study, Dr Robertson completed his Masters in Falconry in 2008, earning him the right to own three raptors. While best known for his work with the Harris' Hawk (Parabuteo unicinctus), arguably the best rabbit or hare raptor available anywhere, Robertson courted controversy in 2011 for his experimental studies in the field of Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) helicoptor launches, earning censure from the Irish Board of Falconry and risking his Master status.

Dr. Ian Robertson is a former Gaelic-football player for Dublin and Ballymun Kickhams. Robertson retired from inter-county football due to an injury in 2008 which dramatically affected his fluency of movement. Ian Robertson is part of the 2012 Dublin senior football management team.[1]
