The second process led to his extradition from Australia to the USA.[6] In the States, on the third day of trial, the Department of Justice dropped all charges and Williams pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of failing to file on time and with no money due and owing. Williams funds a 5 figure scholarship at the University of Oregon in honor of his college professor, Max Wales, restricted to "journalism and communication students who . . . have demonstrated creative talent, but may not have a high grade point average."[7]
