Screen Two is a British television anthology drama series, produced by the BBC and transmitted on BBC2 between 1985 to 1994.
The strand was developed by producer Kenith Trodd as a response to the television films in which Channel Four had invested for several years, many of which had successful cinema circuit releases. Screen Two in its turn proved sufficiently popular with viewers for a BBC1 equivalent, Screen One, which was launched in 1989.
However, the mid-1990s saw a change in emphasis for BBC drama, shifting away from single dramas toward drama series and serials. Screen One ended in 1993 and its BBC2 counterpart a year later. Films from both strands are occasionally repeated on BBC Four.
