Cartridge World opened it's first UK store in Harrogate, North Yorkshire in 2001. It currently has nearly 200 stores across the UK.
In The UK, court cases flew around and with the Operations Manager Mark Holland, the company started to falter, reducing its stores by a large margin.

A new master franchisee for Scotland was appointed but this did nothing to stem the tide against the parent company reducing the number of stores from a high of 17 down to 6 (Inverurie, Aberdeen, Glasgow West, Glasgow Central, Glasgow Shawlands and Paisley). Closed / rebranded stores include Dundee, Falkirk, Kirkcaldy, Leith, Stockbridge, Clerk Street, Dalry Road, Corstorphine, Coatbridge, East Kilbride and Ayr.

The first British store opened in February 2001, in Harrogate. At its height there were over 300 stores, this has now dwindled to around 170.

In Germany, in 2005 the company founded its subsidiary Cartridge World Deutschland GmbH. Until today it has 52 shops and franchise partners in 13 federal states. The headquarters is situated in Hattingen (Northrhine Westfalia, Germany).
