this article is fairly technical and the examples deal with specific cases not likely to be encountered by the general public. I was wondering if the Windows 7 communications option (Communications tab in Control Panel\Sound) would qualify as "Ducking". This option automatically reduces all other sounds on the computer (by either 0% (off), 50%, 80%, or 100%) when VoIP activity is detected by Windows.

Clarification needed
