Template:DB Character Template:Spoilers In the Japanese anime Dragonball GT, the fictional character Super Jinzō'ningen #17/Super Artificial Human #17 (FUNimation's dub: Super Android #17) is the result of a fusion between Cyborg #17 (FUNimation's dub: Android #17) and Dr. Myū's artificial duplication of #17. Super #17's full name is Super Hell Fighter Jinzō'ningen #17. This results in the powerful and seemingly unstoppable being known as Super #17. This machine mutant/cyborg hybrid is one of the most powerful technology-based fighter ever seen in the Dragon Ball series and possesses the ability to absorb energy, allowing #17 to add to his already vast supply of power.

Although Super #17 is the result of a mutual fusion, the means to that end were quite dubious and unfair to the real #17, who was brainwashed and corrupted with evil power in order to get him to allow the artificial #17 onto Earth and fuse with him. This brainwashing seems to have ultimately failed, however, as both before and after the fusion #17 slowly comes to remember his past and never forgets his love for his twin sister, Cyborg #18 (FUNimation's dub: Android #18). He turns on Dr. Gero and Dr. Myū individually, killing each of them in an instant.

Super #17 nearly defeats Son Gokū, even in his Super Saiyan 4 stage. However, he refuses to kill #18 when she joins the battle, simply shielding himself from her small attacks (or absorbing them through a field of energy, depending on the translation of the anime dialogue). Gokū takes advantage of this obvious weakness, using his Ryū-Ken Bakuhatsu (Dragon Fist Explosion), or Super Dragon Fist in Funimation's dub, technique to impale Super #17, who is then unable to absorb a destructive Kamehameha. #18 mourns the loss of her brother, but Gokū points out that it was not truly her brother that they were fighting, and that he must have still had some control of Super #17's body or else Super #17 would not have rebelled against Dr. Myū or spared #18's life repeatedly. He even theorizes that the real #17 must have intentionally planned Super #17's defeat against Gokū, and #18 agrees, saying that she could sense her brother's ki in that moment.

Special abilities

  • Energy Absorption - Super 17 has the ability to absorb incoming energy from his hands similar to #19. However, unlike #19 and #20 he can absorb energy from his entire body.
  • Flash Bomber - Super 17 lifts up both of arms and fires many laser beams from his fingers. Oddly Funimation has dub this attack with two names "Flash Bomb" and "Super Flash Bomb".
  • Dengeki Jigoku Dama - Super 17 coubs both of his hands together and creates a deadly giant black ball of enery. He used this attack to kill Dr. Myuu. Called Electro Eclipse Bomb in the english dub.

Video games

Super #17 is a playable character in the game DBZ: Sparking! (US name: "DBZ: Budōkai Tenka-ichi). In the US release Super #17 is created when the future #17 comes into the present and merges with the artificial #17, so the real one is not involved with this one. Evidence: When Super #17 is defeated in the battle against cell in "The True Ultimate Android" story chapter he states that HE must be imperfect because he lacks the original #17 in his design. Wich says nothing of the fact that if you fuse the future #17 with the original one you won't get Super #17 because the parts needed to complete the original #17 is in the artificial #17 created by Dr.Gero and Dr.Myuu. But there has been a number of story alterations within the Budokai games already, so this is no surprise.
