Ladysmith Secondary School is internationally recognized for its theatre program. They have worked extensively with Jeff Hyslop and have been invited multiple times to the American High School Theatre Festival in Edinburgh. They have attended Theatre BC's provincial festival, Mainstage, bringing both the first musical to the stage and the first play performed in the round. Ladysmith Secondary School is well known for pushing the boundaries of theatre. Notable alumni of the theatre program include: Stef Lang, pop rock singer; Kayla Lorette, Gemini nominee and actress; and Cheyenne Sykes, notable theatre design student at the University of Alberta.

Located in the township of Ladysmith, British Columbia on Vancouver Island, Ladysmith Secondary School is one of seven secondary schools in School District No. 68 (Nanaimo-Ladysmith). With a student population of 666 students, the school services grade 8-12. Davis Road Elementary, Ladysmith Intermediate, and North Oyster Elementary are all part of the Ladysmith Secondary School catchment area.
