Dear Eloise (simplified Chinese: 亲爱的艾洛伊丝) is a Chinese rock band composed of vocalist/producer Yang Haisong (杨海崧) and Sun Xia.
Formed in Beijing in 2008, the pair are connoisseurs of DIY and low-fi bedroom recordings, creating beautiful melodies amongst layers of distortion. Playing all the parts themselves while recording and editing in their home studio, their experimentation with song structures and recording techniques has resulted in an interesting and layered sound that still retains a simple, childlike innocence.
While they do not perform live and have released their recordings inconspicuously through the Beijing-based vinyl label Genjing Records [1][2], the duo has still managed to gain a loyal following in the Chinese independent music scene.[3]
