"DNA"
Song

"DNA" is a single by British girl group Little Mix taken from their debut album of the same name. This single is the group's follow-up to their first original track "Wings", and their third single overall. Musically, "DNA" is an electropop song with dubstep influences while the lyrics speak of obsession. The single's name was revealed after a picture was taken of "DNA" written on a clapperboard. The single's lyric video was debuted on YouTube on 1 October 2012 and subsequently received its first airplay on Capital FM on the same day. The song peaked at number three in the UK and number eight in Ireland, becoming their third top ten single in both countries

Background

On 17 September, the album's artwork was unveiled via the group's official Facebook page, which also confirmed that the album's second single, "DNA", would premiere on radio on 1 October and announced the date of the single's release as 12 November—a week prior to the release of the album.[1] Jesy Nelson said that "DNA" shows a "totally different side to Little Mix".

DNA was first performed at the Radio 1 Teen Awards 2012.

The group performed the new single live on BBC Radio 1's Teen Awards 2012 along with "Wings".[3] On 24 October 2012, the group performed an a cappella version of "DNA" during a live UStream video.[4] They performed the song on The X Factor on 11 November 2012.

Music video

A lyric video for the song was released on the band's official Vevo page on YouTube on 1 October 2012.[5] In the run-up towards the release of the official music video, four teaser clips were unveiled daily, starting on 15 October. Each featured a different member of the group counting down the number of days until the premiere. The music video was released on 19 October.[6]
