Kenneth, Kenny, Huang (Chinese: 黄健华; pinyin: Huáng Jiànhuá; Cantonese: George Wong 黄健华; Taiwanese: Hwang Jiànhuá ) (born 1953) is a former stock trader from China who owns the China National Basketball Association (CBA) team Northeast Tiger. He started his stock investments in early 80's in Wall Street, and was ranked #39 of the Top 40 richest person in Hong Kong by Forbes in 2011 with Net Worth (US$) of 1.05 billion.[1][2][3]


Business Career


Born into a Chinese family with close business and government ties in Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China, his family holding company main focus was: real estate, hotels and stock market investments.[4] According to the public securities filings, one of Kenneth Huang (黄健华 Wong)'s ventures is Rocket Capital, formed with Leslie Alexander of the Houston Rockets. The venture and others have invested more than (US$)200 million in Chinese I.P.O.’s in Hong Kong over the past five years.[5] Based on the public filings at Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Kenneth Huang (黄健华 Wong) is a major shareholder and managing director of Rocket Capital – the investment platform he launched with Leslie Alexander in Hong Kong, owner of the Houston Rockets – which focuses on emerging markets, particularly China. Its investments include the China Railway Group, the Uni-president, the Anta Sports, the car makers Brilliance Auto, the Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry Company and the Longrun Tea Group.[6]


Sports and Philanthropy


On 12/12/2008: Huang ( Wong 黄健华 ) and Hong Kong billionaire Adrian Cheng (郑志刚) formed QSL Sports in Hong Kong on the back of the success of the 2008 Summer Olympics, to invest in the growing interest in sports in China.[7]

On 25/4/2009: Huang( Wong 黄健华 ) and Adrian Cheng (郑志刚), whose family controls the Hong Kong conglomerate New World Development, attempted to invest in a 15% stake of the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers without success..[8]

On 30/9/2009: Huang (Wong 黄健华) became co-chair of both China National Basketball League (NBL) and China Baseball League (CBL) in China.[9]

On 30/10/2009: Huang ( Wong 黄健华 ) bought CBA Jilin Northeast Tigers Basketball Club of China Basketball Association from businessman Zhang Ai-Jun in Changchun, Jilin.[10]

On 31/12/2009: Huang (Wong 黄健华) was voted as "The Most Admired Philanthropist in China " by the largest Chinese website Sina.com and BQ weekly magazine through a nationwide grass-root online voting with more than 100 million people participated.[11]

On 2/8/2010: Huang (Wong 黄健华 ) was in talks with the sale of the English football team Liverpool F.C. to a Chinese investment group.[12]

On 20/8/2010: Huang (Wong 黄健华 ) and the Chinese investment group decided to withdraw from the Liverpool F.C. bid.[13]

On 22/8/2010: Huang (Wong 黄健华) and his partner Marc Ganis of Sportscorp Ltd, brought another sponsorship from China to the New York Yankees.[14]

On 22/9/2010: Huang (Wong 黄健华 ) funded CYBL (China Youth Baseball League) and the Chinese Youth National Baseball Team which later won the 2010 World Championship in Japan. It was the first World championship in China baseball since 1999.[15]

On 31/07/2012: Huang (Wong 黄健华 ) was introduced by the society of F.C.Internazionale Milano for the project of new Stadium.[16]

On 25/10/2012: Huang (Wong 黄健华 ) was ranked number 39 at the list of 2011 the richest person in Hong Kong on Forbes list with net worth of $1.05 billion US dollars.[17][18]
