Surfers Healing at Naragansett, Rhode Island

Surfers Healing was founded by Israel and Danielle Paskowitz, and is based in Southern California. Isaiah Paskowitz, their son who is now 22 years old, was diagnosed with autism at age three. The surf camps are free of charge to Autistic children, and have included include camps in Hawaii, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Puerto Rico. The Kelly Slater Foundation is a supporter of Surfers Healing. [1]

Israel Paskowitz is a former competitive surfer and he found that the ocean was the one place where his son Isaiah seemed to find respite. As a result, Israel and Danielle decided they wanted to share this unique therapy with other autistic children and they started Surfers Healing in Southern California. They began to host day camps at a beach where autistic children and their families could be exposed to a completely new experience of surfing. Isreal is the son of Doc Paskowitz, and the Paskowitz family has been referred to as the "First Family of Surfing".

Television

The Oprah Winfrey Network had a docu-series about the The Paskowitz family called The Swell Life. [2] Surfers Healing was also featured on CBS' Eye To Eye with Sandra Hughes. [3]
