Surfers Healing is a non-profit organization that teaches Autistic children to surf. It was founded by Israel and Danielle Paskowitz for the benefit of their son Isaiah Paskowitz who was diagnosed with autism at age three. Surfers Healing seeks to enrich the lives of people living with Autism by exposing them to the unique experience of surfing. The surf camps are free of charge to Autistic children, and have included include camps in Hawaii, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Puerto Rico. In August 2012, Surfers Healing expanded to Toronto, Canada for the first time organized by Aloha Toronto, an annual weekend beach festival inspired by Surfers Healing. This group will also expand across Canada to Tofino, British Columbia and Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2014. The Kelly Slater Foundation is a supporter of Surfers Healing.^[1]

Israel Paskowitz is a former competitive surfer and owns Paskowitz Surf Camp and he found that the ocean was the one place where his son Isaiah seemed to find respite. As a result, Israel and Danielle decided they wanted to share this unique therapy with other autistic children and they started Surfers Healing in Southern California. They began to host day camps at a beach where autistic children and their families could be exposed to a completely new experience of surfing. Isreal is the son of Doc Paskowitz, and the Paskowitz family has been referred to as the "First Family of Surfing". ^[2]

The Oprah Winfrey Network had a docu-series about the The Paskowitz family called The Swell Life.^[3] Surfers Healing was also featured on CBS' Eye To Eye with Sandra Hughes.^[4]
