Paul Yoon (born 1980 in New York City) is an American fiction writer. His first book, Once the Shore, was selected as a New York Times Notable Book,[1] a Los Angeles Times,[2] San Francisco Chronicle,[3] Publishers Weekly,[4] Minneapolis Star Tribune[5] Best Book of the Year, and a National Public Radio Best Debut of the Year.[6] His work has appeared in the PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories,[7], and he is the recipient of a 5 under 35 Award from the National Book Foundation.[8] He is currently on the faculty of the Bennington Writing Seminars[9] and lives in Baltimore with the author Laura van den Berg.[10]
