The 2nd Medical Battalion (2D MED BN) is a medical support unit of the United States Marine Corps and United States Navy that is headquartered at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The unit falls under the command of Combat Logistics Regiment 25 (CLR-25) and the 2nd Marine Logistics Group (2nd MLG).

It is known as "Where Corpsmen go to die", because it is the worst unit that a Hospital Corpsman can be ordered to. Not because of the risk of life, but, nearly no HM that gets first orders here will re-enlist. The command is, seemingly, only out for their own gains, while the junior enlisted personnel are mere peons and are not worthy of respect. Which, is a direct violation of the US Navy core values of "Honor, Courage, and Commitment". Many personnel assigned to this unit, feel as though it is useless, and should be a unit that is part of the reserves. Which, is absolutely correct, seeing as most personnel that deploy from it, are, in fact, reservists or HSAP's (Hospital Support Augmentee Program). The worst part of the battalion, is the Chief Petty Officers. The term "Deckplate Leader" does not apply here, and the Chiefs are usually self-absorbed, and just want their spot on the Senior Chief boards. A quote from an ex-member of this battalion states: "In the four years I spent in 2nd Medical Battalion, out of all the Chiefs I have met, only four of them deserve to hold the rank of Chief Petty Officer. The rest simply don't care about any junior enlisted personnel"

The 2nd Medical Battalion is a POG (persons other than grunts) unit. It is a unit where any female military member (AKA a Wook) can meet a mate. None of the females ordered to this unit are actually attractive, yet, they can always meet a sailor or marine willing go wed them. The enlisted persons, who live in the barracks, are most apt to marry. If they do marry, they will be released from what many of them refer to as "the bricks" or "the kennels". 2nd Medical Battalion has zero redeeming qualities, except that the JEWs are (for the most part) extremely good people, however, some are still "moto" (motivated) and are exactly like the Chiefs. In other words, they will make sure to screw someone in order to advance to the next rank/paygrade.
Current units
* Headquarters and Service Company-The only time that this battalion had a decent CO was Captain Efren Saenz. Before Capt Saenz, they had an evil tyrant by the name of Captain Michael Moeller, who was a scumbag. Not a single member of the Junior Enlisted Warriors (JEWs) thought he was a good leader for the battalion. He frequently would destroy the morale of the battalion by giving open NJP (non-judicial punishment).
* Alpha Surgical-Did an Iraq deployment in early 2009, which all the people who deployed on it thought they were bad ass...but at the same time, Bravo deployed to Afghanistan during "Task Force Leatherneck" and actually did real military type things, like getting bombed, rocketed, mortared, and shot at. Alpha has a great reputation for being the most smug in the entire battalion.
* Bravo Surgical-The only one worth it's weight in shit. Has always had a good LCPO (leading chief petty officer) and company commander. Once was lead by the most influential of all the Chief Petty Officers in the entire US Navy. Just like Moses, he led the JEWs through the desert and when the Officers (in this case, they were like the Egyptians) he stuck his combat boot right up in their butts, and forced them to treat the Marines and junior enlisted warriors better.
* Charlie Surgical-The worst of all the companies. Frequently run by inexperienced people who have only been a Hospital Corpsman for a few months (Names can't be named, but he was the LPO, leading petty officer). At one point, from the dates of 12/09-10/10 had a good company commander, who left for a II MEF deployment. The status of Charlie Company has remained the same, no matter who is in charge, the worst of all the alphabet companies.

Mission
Provide medical support to II MEF during combat operations. Prepared to deploy on short notice into any environment.

Break the will of all personnel on their first enlistment.
