Joan Fuster Bonnin Palma (Majorca) from 1870 to 1943, was a Spanish painter.

Biography

Joan Fuster Bonnin was born in Palma in 1870. He trained at the School of Fine Arts and later in school-workshop Ricardo Anckerman. It was one of the most active artists, prolific and prominent in the first half of the twentieth century. He had the ambition to evolve and although it was not very common at the time, was devoted exclusively to the craft painter. He paid attention to artistic renewal process that unfolded on the island of Mallorca and became interested in all innovations with Antoni Gelabert where you can see the direct influence Anckerman Schools, Eliseo Meifren, Anglada Camarasa, William Degouve and Santiago Russinyol, becoming the pioneer of the renewal of painting Mallorcan style in the first third of the twentieth century.

Santiago was mainly related Rusinol, William Degouve and Juan Mir. Between 1908 and 1909 he befriended the French painter Henri Brugnot. Received tips leveraging Eliseo Meifren stay on the island of Mallorca between 1907 and 1910. From 1914 followed works Anglada Camarasa and exchanged experiences in the 30s with Guillem Bergnes.

He built a personal style which was chiefly concerned by the open, spacious and bright, where he was passionate about nature, the light and colors of the island of Mallorca, the result of that passion even said in an article in the newspaper "El Día" of August 15, 1928:" It is of interest to all Mallorcan, without distinction, defend our landscape that is our essence. We can not miss any opportunity that presents itself to extol, affirm and proclaim it as much as possible. Chances , the must seize all, precisely because of the fame of the Mallorcan landscape have to emanate days of prosperity and welfare for all Mallorca "

Development intense exhibition activity. Have been able to document thirty solo exhibitions made in Palma, Mahon, Barcelona, Bilbao and Buenos Aires. Participated in a larger number of group exhibitions, becoming very common in Madrid, Barcelona,London, Marseille and Munich. As realistic impressionism style, has a very similar stroke to the painter, also Majorcan Miquel Forteza.
