An Embarrassing Position is a comic opera in one act by American composer Dan Shore, based on a short play of the same name by Kate Chopin. It was first produced by the New England Conservatory in 2010,[citation needed] and went on to win a Big Easy Entertainment Award[1] and the National Opera Association's Chamber Opera Competition.[2] The opera has been praised for its lyricism[3] and its evocation of turn-of-the-century New Orleans.[4]
