Stromsburg is best known as the boyhood home of Kevin "The Finch" Lindburg. Lindburg is known far and wide across the state of Nebraska for his Eagle Scout project that cost Stromsburg the state Community Improvement Project award. |

Lindburg constructed several bird houses in Strombsurg's Buckley Park but lacked the foresight to make the houses large enough for the large quantity of wrens that frequent the park. When Lindburg was called before the Community Improvement Committee to be asked about his project he boasted of his construction until he was asked how wrens would access the houses. At that point, Lindburg stammered unintelligbly for several minutes before becoming visibly frustrated and responding loudly, "We don't need no stinking wrens!" |

The Committee was justifiably upset and quickly adjourned the meeting. Stromsburg was awarded last place and the NCIP has never returned to judge the city since. |

Lindburg is also known for ruining the reputation of the Stromsburg High School track team. At a meet in 1997 in Central City, Lindburg waved at fans during his 3200 meter run. The sight of Lindburg gawking at onlookers while other competitors raced surely made all of its residents "want to crawl in a hole." |

Lindburg also destroyed the reputation of a well-known motivational speaker who graciously made an appearance at Stromsburg High School. The speaker, who possessed the rare talents of being a midget, recording artist and powerlifting sensation, had left the entire student body extremely motivated when he graciously agreed to take some questions from the audience. Lindburg immediately raised his hand and said, "So...what do you actually do? I mean is this your job? I mean what do you actually do?" The speaker did his best to avoid this exteremely disrespectful question but could barely leave the room before he burst into tears. Ever since this humiliation, no student has ever been motivated by the speaker as he quit the speaking circuit the next day. |

Lindburg went on to graduate from Stromsburg High School. He later attended Covenant Bible College and graduated from Wayne State College. He is currently in Antarctica. The entire town of Stromsburg is hopeful he will spare the town from further embarrassment in the future. |

Stromsburg is a city in Polk County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 1,232 at the 2000 census.
Geography
Stromsburg is located at 41°6′56″N 97°35′37″W / 41.11556°N 97.59361°WInvalid arguments have been passed to the {{#coordinates:}} function (41.115580, -97.593551)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²), all land. Stromsburg is the self-proclaimed "Swede Capital of Nebraska" and hosts a Swedish Festival every June.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 1,232 people, 487 households, and 320 families residing in the city. The population density was 471.0/km² (1,214.2/mi²). There were 533 housing units at an average density of 203.8/km² (525.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.19% White, 0.08% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.16% from other races, and 0.49% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.65% of the population.
There were 487 households out of which 27.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.1% were married couples living together, 4.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.1% were non-families. 31.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.92.
In the city the population was spread out with 22.9% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 20.5% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 31.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females there were 92.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.0 males.

Dusty Hanson
Commonly known as "Quadzilla" in the peaceful municipality of Stromsburg, Dusty is somewhat of an urban legend. About halfway though his high school career, Dusty developed a keen interest in running absurdly long distances. The young prodigy ran and ran, then lifted weights and ran some more. This is when his legs began to grow larger.
During his senior year, Dusty Hanson was qualified to participate in a relay at the state track meet. After more intense training his legs grew more massive. Shortly after high school, Dusty started running marathons. One can only imagine how huge his legs had grown by this time. He was certainly becoming worthy of the title "Thunder Thighs." Dusty ran in the Lincoln Marathon and immediately qualified to run in the Boston Marathon.
The Boston Marathon was the toughest race of Dusty's entire life, partly because he had difficulty lifting his oversized legs off the ground. However, Dusty was able to finish the race, which is quite an accomplishment.
Today, Dusty has all but given up on his running career. A series of injuries hindered Dusty's training so that he is now growing old and fat, but his legs remain larger than life. It seems that running so many marathons at such a young age has taken its toll on his body. Perhaps one day Dusty will recover and manage to fulfill his lifelong goal of finishing a marathon in each of the 50 states, but until that time arrives, his immense legs will continue to shake the ground wherever he goes.
