S.H. Raza (Born: Syed Haider Raza in 1922) is an eminent Indian artist who has lived and worked in France since 1950, but maintains strong ties with India. His works are mainly abstracts in oil or acrylic, with a very rich use of color. He is married to French artist Janine Mongillat. He studied at the Nagpur School of Art and Sir J. J. School of Art before moving to France to study at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He has been awarded the Padma Shri in 1981, and is a Fellow of the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. The government of his home state Madhya Pradesh, awarded him the Kalidas Samman.
