Dysesthesia (dysaesthesia in British English) is an impairment of any of the senses, i.e. touch. The patient suffers from anguishing, commonly cutaneous sensations in absence of a stimulus. The abnormal sensations are often described as painful feelings such as burning, electric shock or pins and needles caused by neurological malfunction.
