Jim Weirich (November 18, 1956 - February 19, 2014[1]) was a notable software developer, speaker, teacher, and contributor to the Ruby community. He created the Rake build tool for Ruby.

Personal Life

Jim grew up in Topeka, Indiana, graduating from Westview Junior - Senior High School in 1975. He went on to graduate from Indiana University in 1979 with a degree in Physics. He lived in Cincinnati, OH.[2]

Jim was active in the Ruby community worldwide, and especially in Cincinnati, Ohio, participating in the local agile development, Ruby, and functional programming user groups. At meetings, he often gave talks and was widely acclaimed for the clarity and quality of his presentations.
